Freshman and sophomores at UCSC are prohibited from buying parking permits. Well, there's a barely-advertised condition that allows you to apply for the chance to apply for a parking permit on a medical, educational, or employment basis. I said, fuck it, I'll keep one weekend shift as delivery driver during the school year and make myself eligible for the latter reason. Just found out I got approved; also just found out that the permit is not $520 but instead $355. Feelin fine.

Edit: more Miata!

Is that price for the semester or for the entire year?

That's a fine Miata you have there. Drive it with pride!

Whole academic year. The permit type I got approved for is an R-permit, which allows me to park in the three 'remote lots'—huge lots on the edges of campus. One of these is is a fairly short walk from my dorm though so I'm basically just benefitting from the shrunken price tag.

As a bit of a photo nerd, I love the picture. Nothing quite looks like film, no matter what filter you use.

Thanks! And no kidding, I have a DSLR but nothing is more exciting than getting your roll developed. Film beautifies.

That makes that price a little more reasonable I guess. Well at least you have a parking place!

Edited with a couple more photos! I'd reply to you but I think I might've just posted a rape gif instead

Nice. I especially like the middle pic. Kinda makes it look like a toy model. I haven't shot film in YEARS. I couldn't even tell you where I would go to buy some anymore.

That's a pretty reasonable price to park close to your dorm on one of the most beautiful college campuses on Earth. Congrats!

I had the exact same reaction to that picture, funnily
Get back on it! My flea-market-special Pentax P30T put me down $35 (50mm prime included). I buy and develop film at a local photo lab, but I think places like Costco and Walgreens support it too.

word, thanks man

I should also have mentioned it's an excellent school, not just a beautiful campus. :-)

I've been shooting random shots in nyc on my SLR Canon EOS for about a week. This is my first SLR camera, so I can't wait to get the pictures back. Luckily out here we still have one-hour development. Where I moved here from - it took 2 weeks to get your film roll back. Are those digital copies of your prints, or scans?

Nice, have fun. These are scans, when I drop off the film I ask for them instead of prints

HOLY SHIT my parking permit for Western Kentucky University was $90 and i thought that was expensive

What are you shooting with?

Pentax P30T @ 50 mm. Film is a pretty cheap game to get into if you're interested in it—my camera was $35.

I have an old SLR lying around somewhere, a pretty decent Canon from the mid-to-late 80s if I remember right. I need to dig it out with the surplus of ANCIENT film with it.
Though I'm not terribly good at photography and it isn't something I feel like pursuing... since that sort of thing is back 'in style' since it's "hipster" to some people or whatever I might try selling it so I can get my car squared away.

Ack, D thinks this is a shitty reason to put something down :( And unless it happens to be a camera of value, selling it won't really raise a lot of money for the car.

It is a NP that's just over $1.38 per day.
